JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – When JXNFest was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, the musicians felt their time for performing was over. Now, three business owners have opened their doors for musicians to play and fans to enjoy.

Memorial Day Music in The City is a two-day event featuring artists who were scheduled to take the stage at JXNFest.

“It all fell into place because there were a lot of bands that were excited to play and wanted to do it and the show got canceled so we can still do it. we can still have fun,” said event organizer and Fondren guitar owner Patrick Harkin.

Fondren Guitars, Hal and Mal’s and The Flamingo Jxn all stepped in to create their own stage for artists.

Now, musicians ranging from Indie, Rock, Pop and HipHop perform at the venues.

“Our show is called Lemonade and we’re trying to make lemons out of lemonade right now. We’re going to rally. That’s what we’re doing right now. We’re going to bring the community together and it’s going to be a time that we we will all remember for a very long time,” said Judson Wright.

At the flamingo, an array of hip hop artists will showcase their music.

“All the artists are very dynamic. Vtamin Cea makes you feel like you’re inside her diary when she performs. His music is very intimate and uplifting, very moving. DevMaccc is high energy and lots of energy with great crowd control. Young Jewels is super fluid with what she does. Then I’m the former leader and I do classics and I do songs that rock people at shows every year I do that,” 5thChild said.

5thChild aid Although the shows take place in different places, good music is what will be the same.

“Whether it’s on a big stage, whether it’s in a small venue, whether there’s corporate funds behind it, or whether it’s just someone’s PA system in their living room, people want that connection and intimacy through music and so that’s what we’re here to provide”

Concert goers can expect to enjoy live music from 5:00 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
