[ad_1]
Christ Episcopal Church in Dover, Delaware follows this vision: Like Christ does, we will. We express this vision through our core values of welcome, support, growth and compassion. We are looking for an organist / choir director to worship our commitment to this vision and values.
We are a somewhat diverse community, across age, race, socioeconomic status, and spiritual background. We are brought together by the Liturgy of the Large Church, employing The 1982 anthem; Lift up every voice and sing; Wonder, love and praise; and other resources. A volunteer choir helps lead our Holy Eucharist at 10:00 am each Sunday, and we also look forward to occasionally praying with our contemporary musical group, Glorify.
Worship is the central gathering of our family of faith. As part of a recently completed church renovation project, we replaced the console of our Moeller pipe organ. Additionally, we have modified our choir and sanctuary to create a more flexible space, highlighting our music ministry and expanding worship options. From the start of 2022, we will completely re-leather our organ; this project will complete a decades-long effort to restore our main instrument. During the first part of this year, we are going to love it with our Yamaha digital piano.
The organist / choirmaster is a salaried part-time position, with an expected average of fifteen hours per week. Ideal candidates would have experience and openness to Broad Church liturgy; training as an organist with a bachelor’s degree in music and / or certification from the American Guild of Organists, or equivalent training; experience conducting choirs of all ages and levels; and the ability to lead from the bench.
This person would work independently and in collaboration with the Rector, other clergy and staff, choirs and other musicians. He or she would have a right of first refusal for weddings and funerals. Christ Church covers AGO membership and basic continuing education.
The Christ Church Organist / Choirmaster Search Committee will begin interviewing applicants in February 2022. Interested parties should send a resume by January 31, 2022 to the Reverend Charles S. Weiss, Rector, at cweiss @ christchurchdover. org.
